Dr. Anna Lembke graduated from Yale University with a bachelor's degree in humanities and a medical degree from Stanford University. She is presently an Associate Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine and the Medical Director of Addiction Medicine. She is also the Chief of the Stanford Addiction Medicine Dual Diagnosis Clinic and the Program Director of the Stanford Addiction Medicine Fellowship. She is an American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology diplomate as well as an American Board of Addiction Medicine diplomate. Dr. Lembke was one of the first physicians to raise concerns about opioid overprescribing and the opioid crisis. Drug Dealer, MD – How Doctors Were Duped, Patients Got Hooked, and Why It's So Hard to Stop (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2016), her best-selling book on the prescription drug epidemic, combines case studies with public policy, cultural anthropology, and neuroscience to explore the complex relationship between doctors and patients around prescribing controlled drugs. Drug Dealer, MD has influenced policymakers and lawmakers all throughout the country. From Kentucky to Missouri to Nevada, Dr. Lembke has spoken before Congress and advised governors and senators.
