As of November 2014, DogVacay had obtained $47 million in total funding from venture capital firms such as Andreessen Horowitz and Benchmark.

Hirschhorn is from Philadelphia; he is a graduate of Swarthmore College and earned an MBA from UCLA. Before founding DogVacay in March 2012 with his wife, Karine Nissim Hirschhorn, he worked for Los Angeles-based venture capital firms GRP and Monitor Ventures.
