Due to the popularity of Shark Tank, Mark Cuban is one of America's most high-profile success stories. He talked about some of his early beginnings as an entrepreneur last week at New York University's Stern School of Business.
Cuban participated in a question and answer session in Tisch Hall and over 500 students, alumni and faculty came out to hear from him. The event was co-sponsored by the Entertainment, Media and Technology program and the W.R. Berkley Labs.
In addition to taking questions from Stern professor Greg Coleman, Cuban also answered queries from the crowd. He finished the appearance by judging a "Stern Tank" competition that the start-ups created by three current and former NYU students.
Cuban made it big in the .com era by selling his company, Broadcast.com, to Yahoo. He went on to purchase the Dallas Mavericks and became one of the most successful owners in the NBA, culminating with a league championship in 2011.
In addition to overseeing operations with the Mavericks, Cuban is also the co-owner of 2929 Entertainment and chairman AXS TV. He has been a part of the regular Shark Tank panel since 2010.
Since Cuban joined the show, they have won three Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Structured Reality Program. He is a graduate of Indiana University and built the Mark Cuban Center for Sports Media and Technology on campus.
