Entrepreneur and notable business man Daymond John spoke to students at UNR about how to get on the path for success in business last Friday February 20 for Black History Month. John discussed many of his hardships and obstacles that he had to overcome in order to get where he is today, and aside from his many investments he also likes to motivate others to do the same.
The New York City Native is the founder of the famous clothing line, FUBU, and appears as a regular “shark” on ABC’s hit show “Shark Tank.” On the show, John and his fellow sharks take turns bidding to fund smaller start up companies that they find invest-able. He has partnered with many people on the show, and typically those with apparently businesses like to target him to make a deal. During his talk at UNR, John emphasized the importance of education, goals, and investing in one’s self with a passion for what they are doing. He made a comment that he is truly glad about what he and the other investors do on Shark Tank, because he enjoys helping hard working people get a boost with their business. The millionaire admires other people who choose to start their own companies because it forces them to rely on the decisions they make or don’t make.
