Reverend Dr. Otis Moss III is a respected religious leader that is known throughout the country. He paid a visit to Boardman, Ohio last week to kick off the New Year and share a message centered around the Emancipation Proclamation. Moss spoke to individuals of all faiths at the Calvary Baptist Church. He said that it is important to keep the principles the Proclamation was founded on alive for generations to come. One way Moss said that progress continues to be made is by staying vigilant in elections He stressed that the leaders we choose to play a pivotal role in the direction our country takes. For the past two decades, Moss has been the senior pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Illinois. He regularly speaks about topics important to the black community like mass incarceration, environmental justice and economic equality. Moss shares a message of love and justice in his sermons and he has been named one of the “12 Most Effective Preachers in the English-Speaking World.” He is the author of several books. Moss received an NAACP Image Award in 2016 and he was a member of the inaugural Root 100 list. He graduated with honors from Morehouse College, holds a Master of Divinity from Yale Divinity School and a Doctor of Ministry from Chicago Theological Seminary.
