Every June, to commemorate the Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan in 1969, Pride Month is celebrated. For almost 50 years, Pride Month has honored LGBTQ voices and drawn millions of people from all over the world. Celebrities and social media influencers, as well as business leaders, activists, and athletes, are among the many inspiring LGBTQ speakers. Staceyann Chin
Staceyann Chin is a poet, actor, and performer who specializes in spoken word poetry. She is the author of Crossfire: A Litany For Survival and a new poetry collection, The Other Side of Paradise, a highly praised memoir. She is also known for her one-woman shows Hands Afire, Unspeakable Things, Border/Clash, and MotherStruck. Her work has appeared in publications such as the New York Times and the Washington Post. She openly identifies herself to be Caribbean, Black, Asian, lesbian, a woman, a New York City resident, and a Jamaican national.
Jay Manuel
Jay Manuel has worked in the worlds of high fashion and beauty for over a decade, both in front of and behind the camera. Jay was also the Creative Director/Judge of the reality show America's Next Top Model for 18 seasons. He worked as the host of the makeover series Style Her Famous, Style Rocks the Red Carpet for New York Fashion Week and Canada’s Next Top Model. Jay was also a fashion expert for E! Networks and its Red-Carpet Team.
Geena Rocero
Geena Rocero made her mark one of the most inspiring LGBTQ speakers when she came out as transgender at the annual TED Conference on March 31, 2014. The event was in recognition of the International Transgender Day of Visibility. Her viral presentation has since been viewed over 4 million times and translated into 32 languages. Geena is also the founder of Gender Proud, an award-winning media production company that tells stories about what it means to be trans and gender nonconforming. Geena has appeared on E!'s I Am Cait, Candy Magazine's Cover, Vanity Fair: Trans America, Marriott's #LoveTravels Campaign, and CoverGirl Cosmetics' #GirlsCan Campaign. Geena has also spoken at the White House, the World Economic Forum, and the United Nations.
Charlene Carruthers
Charlene Carruthers is a community organizer and writer who has worked in the racial justice, feminist, and youth leadership development movements for over 15 years. She has worked alongside hundreds of young Black activists to develop a national base of activist member-led organizations of Black 18-35-year-olds dedicated to creating justice and freedom for all Black people. Her commitment to cultivating young leaders to help marginalized communities build capacity has led her to work on immigrant rights, economic justice, and civil rights initiatives across the country. She is also the founding national director of the Black Youth Project 100.
