Zeynep Ton Biography

At the MIT Sloan School of Management, Zeynep Ton teaches operations management as an adjunct associate professor. Ton is now researching how businesses may design and run their operations in a way that simultaneously satisfies their employees, customers, and investors. Her previous studies were centered on the crucial function that store operations play in retail supply chains. Ton found operational issues at stores that have an adverse effect on the performance of the retail supply chain as well as shop earnings, and she linked these issues to the organization of store operations and labor management. Several magazines, including Organization Science Production and Operations Management and the Harvard Business Review, have featured her work. She has also produced a number of cases that examine various methods for managing retail outlets and workers. Sloan Ton worked as an assistant professor for seven years in the department of technology and operations management at Harvard Business School, where she received the HBS Faculty Teaching Award for outstanding instruction. In addition to a BS in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, Ton has a DBA from Harvard Business School.
