Zedd Biography

Zedd began including music in his daily activities when he was still a young child. Born Anton Zaslavski Zedd, he was nurtured by two classically educated musicians in Kaiserslautern, Germany. He started playing the piano at the age of four and gradually increased his understanding of the classical repertoire throughout his youth, at times even producing a song every day. Anton started playing the drums at the age of twelve, and shortly after, he joined the post-hardcore/metal combo Dioramic. He started writing and producing various rock songs at the recording studio that belonged to his band as a young kid. As the 2000s went on, Anton's exposure to various genres grew, and in 2009, the French electronic duo Justice ignited his interest in making electronic music. His transition into the world of electronic dance music was easy because of his musical talent and experience in instruments, writing, and production. 2009 turned out to be a turning point for Zedd. He started making electronic music this year, and in a very short amount of time, he received a great deal of praise from both critics and fans. Zedd won the Armand Van Helden / Strictly Rhythm Remix Contest and the Fatboy Slim / Skint Remix Contest on Beatport just a few months after starting his production career.
