Nigerian-American actress, comedian, and writer Yvonne Orji keeps showcasing her adaptability and passion with each job she does. The program centers on the friendship of two contemporary black women and all of its raunchy trials. Additionally, she is now working on "First Gen," a half-hour sitcom based on her life that Oprah and David Oyelowo are executives producing. The comedy is about a Nigerian girl who decides against attending medical school in favor of stand-up comedy and the misadventures that follow when her strict African mother learns of her plans. She has also worked on television shows for The Africa Channel, BET's "Comic View," and TV One's "Love That Girl," a Martin-Lawrence production. She also served as the host of the P4CM-produced "The Conversation" YouTube series, which has approximately 147K viewers. Orji travels for comedy performances both domestically and abroad in between projects. She has been hired to host business events and social gatherings in addition to her fame as a stand-up comedian. She worked for six months in post-conflict Liberia in 2008 and 2009 with Population Services International (PSI), an NGO that promotes healthy behaviors via social marketing. She collaborated with a group of gifted young people when she was in Liberia to develop a mentorship program and a weekly discussion show that assisted in spreading awareness and preventing the spread of adolescent pregnancy and HIV/AIDS. Orji transferred her experience working with adolescents back to the United States, where she is now engaged in anti-bullying initiatives and faith-based youth ministries. Orji graduated from George Washington University with a Bachelor of Sociology and a Master of Public Health before relocating to Los Angeles.
