Yukon Huang Biography

Senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, DC, is Yukon Huang. He formerly served as the World Bank's Country Director for both Russia and the former Soviet Union, as well as China. He advises several countries, businesses, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. His work focuses on the regional and global effects of China's economy. Dr. Huang has written extensively about China's development issues in both scholarly journals and the general press. He frequently contributes to the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Bloomberg Foreign Affairs, National Interest Diplomat, and Caixin. He is a featured commentator for the Financial Times on China. Cracking the China Conundrum: Why Conventional Economic Wisdom Is False is his most recent book (Oxford University Press 2017). He graduated from Yale University with a BA and Princeton University with a Ph.D. in economics.
