Yat Siu Biography

Yat started his career in technology in 1990 by working at Atari Germany. He accepted the post of Director and Head of East Coast Operations for Lexicor, a Silicon Valley-based graphics software business, three years later in Boston. Yat relocated to Hong Kong in 1996, when he founded Hong Kong Cybercity, the region's first free web page, and email service. The business expanded quickly and was eventually purchased by a US-based corporation under the name Freenation. Yat joined AT&T's Solutions System Integration practice in 1997 and left a year later to found Outblaze, one of the biggest hosted messaging providers in the world today with over 75 million customers. Yat graduated from the Musik Konservatorium Wien with a degree in music. He has won the Standard Chartered Platinum Achievers Award, the URENCO Innovation Award, the IT Excellence Gold Award, two Linux Business Awards, the Asia Pacific ICT Award (APICTA), the Golden Penguin Open Source Software Award, and a Hong Kong Award for Industries for the successful implementation of his vision at Outblaze. Yat was recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader in 2006. He supports a number of NGOs and charitable groups, including the Salvation Army, the SPCA, the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, and the Asian Youth Orchestra WITNESS APCAUCE.
