Yann LeCun Biography

A member of the NYU Center for Data Science, the Courant Institute of Mathematical Science, the Center for Neural Science, and the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, Yann LeCun is the Director of AI Research at Facebook and the Silver Professor of Data Science, Computer Science, Neural Science, and Electrical Engineering at New York University. After spending a brief time as a Fellow of the NEC Research Institute in Princeton, he was appointed head of the Image Processing Research Department at AT&T Labs-Research in 1996. He then joined NYU as a professor in 2003. He served as the founding director of the NYU Center for Data Science from 2012 to 2014 while leading NYU's data science initiative. On these subjects, as well as on neural networks handwriting recognition picture processing and compression, and specific circuits and architectures for computer vision, he has written more than 180 scientific articles and book chapters.
