Xavier Samuel Biography

Samuel, the son of Maree and Clifford Samuel, was born in Hamilton, Victoria. He was raised in Adelaide, South Australia, and earned his degree from Rostrevor College that same year. A writer, producer, and actor named Benedict Samuel is Xavier's younger brother. He also has a stage manager for a sister, Bridget Samuel, who is older. Samuel studied drama in their final year at Christian Brothers College under the direction of Amanda Portus despite completing his senior secondary education at Rostrevor College. He appeared as Tom Snout (the wall) in Rostrevor College's production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream and as Belvile in CBC's production of Aphra Behn's The Rover during the same year. Samuel studied acting under famous professor Professor Julie Holledge at the Flinders University Drama Centre in 2005. In the graduate presentation, he played Hamlet. In 2003, Samuel made his television debut in the Australian program McLeod's Daughters. Marcus was his character in the Australian horror film Road Train, and he also appeared in the Craig Boreham-directed film Drowning, which starred Miles Szanto of Elephant Princess.
