William Staats Biography

Dr. William Staats is a prolific author who has written more than 55 papers on banking and finance. He is also a highly active speaker who travels the country giving talks. Dr. Staats serves as a director of the $9.1 billion network of agricultural lenders known as Farm Credit Bank of Texas. He serves on the board of Money Management International, a nonprofit group with over 100 offices across the country that offers financial and credit counseling as well as education, as well as over the phone and online. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation also appointed Dr. Staats to the board of the country's first bridge bank. Dr. Staats served as Louisiana Bankers Association Chair of Banking and The Hermann Moyse Jr. Distinguished Professor at Louisiana State University for 30 years. Dr. Staats served as the vice president and corporate secretary of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia before joining the LSU faculty. He has held professor positions at The University of Texas, where he earned his Ph.D., as well as Rice University.
