William Danko Biography

Bill Danko attained emeritus status at the State University of New York at Albany School of Business in 2007 after spending 31 years on the marketing faculty, nine of those as chair. Throughout his employment, he researched consumer behavior, paying particular attention to the issue of wealth creation. The Millionaire Next Door, a book about wealth in America that was based on research and has been listed as a bestseller by The New York Times for more than three years, is coauthored by him. He most recently coauthored the book Richer Than A Millionaire: A Pathway To True Prosperity, which demonstrates how to accumulate wealth while keeping a larger goal in mind. His scholarly works have been published in prestigious journals such as the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Advertising Research, and others. Nearly every State, as well as Australia, Canada, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, and Taiwan, have heard him deliver his study findings. At the Lally School of Management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), Dr. Danko received his Ph.D. in 1983. Professor Danko was admitted to the Omicron Delta Kappa organization in 2005 in honor of his notable accomplishments and contributions to collegiate activities. He and his wife live in upstate New York, and he has three grown children and five grandchildren.
