However, the situation on the field was not much better than acrobatic, so I rode the seat aggressively. I may have entered thinking there was no way I could mess it up because we were winning by a wide margin of goals. She attended specialized educational programs and made every effort to understand how to fit in with the group. This experience taught me two things: I don't want to sit on the bench and it's excellent to keep going even when you're not succeeding. The next year, Engen switched teams to one that included Christen Press, a future member of the United States National Team, and she much enjoyed it. My entire perspective on soccer was altered as a result. Everything was a competition in my household, claims Engen. When they were little, putting on their nightgown first was a competition they engaged in. My protectors would look like Ready, set, go! And as we ascended the stairs, we would pull clothing out of drawers and slam them shut.
