WHEELER COLEMAN serves as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan's senior vice president and chief information officer. Mr. Coleman has been involved with data innovation for more than three years in both the medical and governmental sectors. As SVP/CIO, Mr. Coleman is responsible for the IT initiatives that support and deliver essential human services to nearly 4.4 million residents of Michigan and 1.3 million people outside of Michigan. Prior to that, Mr. Coleman served as senior vice president and chief information officer for The Lifetime Healthcare Companies, the largest health insurance provider in Central New York and the parent company of Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield. As CIO, Mr. Coleman was in charge of a group of businesses that provided IT services to 1.8 million people in the upstate New York region. Prior to becoming a CIO, Mr. Coleman served as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC), the fourth-largest health safety net provider in the country that covers 13.5 million people through four Blue Cross Blue Shield Plans in Illinois, Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. HCSC is the nation's largest client-owned health insurer.
