In rural Arizona over two decades ago, Wendy Piersall was residing in her vehicle. She eventually had $30 to her name and nowhere else to go but the Salvation Army. She went to Chicago a few years later, becoming a single parent and residing in her parents' cellar. At that time, she decided to start her first business. With no prior entrepreneurial experience, she registered as Luna Art and started producing children's furniture and painting personalized wall murals for clients' homes. Despite the fact that the first business didn't last very long, it helped her regain her confidence and she quickly found herself back on her feet. In order to join another interpersonal organization, she quit her position as Director of Business Development with a web-based company in 2006. She had an idea to start a little side blog where she could share her experience as a business visionary and work-at-home parent as she was exploring cooperative arrangements. She actually believed that just one or two mothers would be interested in starting a website and working from home. Less than a year later, this tiny side project blog Moms at Home became popular enough for her to cease engaging in other activities and focus only on turning her blog into a company. The website has now changed its name to Sparkplugging and is currently perhaps the most popular online destination for anyone looking to launch a home-based company.
