Between 2002 and 2005, Christianson worked for Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, Citigroup, and Citigroup Global Markets. In addition, he held positions at Credit Suisse as Managing Director, Chairman, and Country Manager for China. She re-joined Morgan Stanley in her present position at the beginning of 2006. Christianson worked for the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission as an Associate Director of the Corporate Finance Department in the early 1990s (SFC). In order to prepare for the 1993 public listing of the first group of Mainland Chinese firms in Hong Kong, she contributed to the development of the rules and regulations of the local securities market while working at the SFC. Wei was an attorney at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe in New York before moving to Hong Kong for this job. There, she focused on U.S. securities transactions, such as the public listing and private placement of U.S. shares and bonds. Christianson earned her degree with honors from Amherst College in Massachusetts, where she is presently a trustee. She graduated with honors in international law from the Columbia University School of Law in 1989 and was awarded a J.D. She has legal practice authorization in the State of New York. Christianson has won several honors and awards. She has been on several lists, including the Wall Street Journal's "50 Women to Watch" List from 2006 to 2008 and FORTUNE's "International Power 50" list in 2008, 2009, and 2010. Wei has also been included in the lists of Financial Times' "Women at the Top: The Ones to Watch" and Forbes' "Power Women in the Wings". Christianson, a married father of three, resides in Beijing.
