On February 14, 1992, Cuomo Jason, Cropper Matt Sharp, and Pat Wilson founded Weezer in Los Angeles. The band began writing music and performing at surrounding bars. The band continued to advance despite not having much success at first. Weezer was signed to dgc records (Geffen) after spending 16 months performing live and making demos in Los Angeles.
To record at the renowned Electric Woman Studios with producer Ric Ocasek, the band relocated to New York (of vehicle popularity). In the Weezer story, Jason left the group to care for his future wife, who was carrying their first child. Jason was replaced by the bassist for the band Fair Art at the time, Brian Ringer.
