Wang Jianlin Biography

Wang Jianlin entered the army in 1970 after being born in 1954. He left the army in 1986 to work as the Office Administrator of Dalian's Xigang District Government. He has served as Chairman of the Dalian Wanda Group since 1989. Wang Jianlin has garnered several distinctions for his remarkable achievements in company management and corporate social responsibility. He was voted CCTV Chinese Economy Person of the Year in 2005. He earned the China Charity Award: most compassionate individual contributor from the Ministry of Civil Affairs in 2005 and 2008. He was named National Excellent Private Entrepreneur Caring About Employees by the All-China Federation of Industry & Commerce and the All-China Federation of Trade Unions in 2007. He received the National May 1 Labor Medal in 2008. He received the China Glory Outstanding Contribution Award in 2009 from the United Front Work Department, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and the China Glory Society. In 2009, he was also named Outstanding Individual in Disabled Assistance by the State Council, Outstanding Builder of Socialist Cause by the United Front Work Department, and Outstanding Business Leader by CCTV. Wang Jianlin was named National Model of Earthquake Disaster Relief by the CPC Central Committee, the State Council, and the Central Military Commission in 2010. Wang Jianlin was named an Excellent Individual in Building a Wealthy Society by the United Front Work Department, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security in 2011.
