Walter E. Jones Biography

In the Power Rangers arrangement, Jones portrayed Zack Taylor, the first Black Ranger. He was worked out of the agreement midway through the season, evidently due to pay and fee issues, and was replaced by Johnny Yong Bosch. Jones returned to Power Rangers in the Lost Galaxy season (1999), when he voiced Hexuba's Nightmare Monster in the scene Dream Battle; he also appeared in the Power Rangers: Wild Force (2002) scene Forever Red, in which several former Red Rangers participated. Again, he did not appear as his distinctive character Zack, but rather as one of the adversaries, a Machine Empire commander named Gerrok. He was also one of the unusual witnesses on the 1993 scene of I Love the '90s, alongside individual co-star Amy Jo Johnson. He also re-joined Austin St. John (with whom he became a close friendship during their time on the program) as a co-star in The Lost Episode, a special showing of Power Rangers' original pilot sequence. Jones was the first performer to do voicework for any character other than a Ranger (often for animals or miscreants) on a Power Rangers show despite working as a Ranger himself.
