Vicious movie adaptation rights were jointly acquired by Ridley's Scott Free Productions and Story Mining and Supply Co in late 2013. 2014 saw Schwab sign a two-book deal with Tor Books. A Darker Shade of Magic, her subsequent book, was released in February 2015 and received a featured review from Publishers Weekly.
