Ty Montague Biography

After working in traditional advertising for more than 20 years, Ty and his business partner Rosemarie Ryan teamed together with Richard Schatzberger and Neil Parker, two seasoned professionals from outside of advertising, to start co:collective in September 2010. A growth and innovation accelerator called Co:collective focuses on creating and reinventing brands, products, and companies. Among others, YouTube, Google, Microsoft, GE, and Kohl's have all hired Co. Ty has spent his career as an innovator and change agent because he is happiest when things are being built. As Co-President and Chief Creative Officer of JWT North America, Ty and his colleague Rosemarie Ryan oversaw the agency's 5-year reinvention. Ty launched and assisted in the development of the New York offices of Bartle Bogle Hegarty, Wieden + Kennedy, and Chiat Day prior to that. Ty is an author and frequent speaker on the subjects of innovation, leadership, business transformation, and the power of storytelling. This effort culminated in JWT being named the 2009 Global Agency of the Year by Adweek magazine, a first for JWT and parent company WPP. At several prestigious business institutions, such as the Wharton School, NYU Stern School of Business, and Columbia Business School, he has also spoken and given guest lectures. The 16th of July 2013 saw the publication of his debut book, True Story: How to Combine Story and Action to Transform Your Business (2013 Harvard Business Press). Ty has been designated one of the Top 50 Creative Minds of the Past 20 Years by Creativity Magazine, one of the Top 10 Creative Directors in America by Advertising Age, and one of the Top Ten Creative Minds in Business by Fast Company Magazine. Ty, his wife Dany, and their beagle Jerry reside in Westport, Connecticut. They have two boys, Miles and Mackinnon.
