He met the rapper Lil Wop in Atlanta, who was instrumental in his career start. He released his first mixtape, A Love Letter to You, in May 2017. He released his second mixtape, A Love Letter to You 2, in October of the same year. When it was published in August 2018, his first studio album, Life's A Trip, debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 list.
