About Tom Wilson
Tom Wilson Biography
He pursued the journey from photography to mixed media works until finding a home in color and canvas after studying fine art photography at U.C.L.A. Tom completed his drawing and painting studies at the Art Academy of Los Angeles and the California Art Institute before spending a lot of time studying with renowned California impressionist Arthur Bjorn Egeli and abstract painter Rene Amitai. His artistic career began on the stage, where he worked as an actor, comedian, and writer. He has performed alongside a who's who of the entertainment world on stage and screen. He has appeared on hundreds of television shows around the world, including "The Today Show," "Good Morning America," "CBS This Morning," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Late Night with David Letterman," "Good Morning, Great Britain," and "Tonight Live in Australia". His stage career began with theatre, where he studied in New York. This unique route of famine and opportunity eventually brought him to the stages of comedy clubs, where he headlined for many years all throughout the country. When he was 21 years old, he was hired as a regular at the renowned Comedy Store in Los Angeles, where he performed with the Comedy Store Players and improvised onstage alongside Jim Carrey, Richard Pryor, and Robin Williams. He was immediately placed in short-lived television series, and advertisements, and ultimately was cast as Michael J. Fox's muscular adversary Biff in the iconic "Back To The Future" trilogy of movies. The opportunity to work with renowned filmmakers like John Frankenheimer, Stuart Rosenberg, Taylor Hackford, Robert Zemeckis, Steven Spielberg, and Steve Oedekerk followed with a lengthy run of film parts. On several TV shows, including "Ed," "Do Over," "Freaks and Geeks," "Titus," "Fired Up," and "Maggie," as well as "Boston Public," "Two and a Half Men," he has made regular guest appearances. His nonfiction and editorial work have appeared in The New Yorker, Envoy, Us, P.C. Games, and on the PBS.com website as part of the Frontline series. His fiction has appeared in the literary journals Amelia, West Word, and Ipsissima verba. He has worked as a development writer for the Disney, Universal, and Film Roman studios, and his most recent work can be found in Bert Ghezzi's anthology, "Sacred Passages," which was just released by Doubleday.
