Tom Kalil Biography

At UC Berkeley, Thomas Kalil serves as the Special Assistant to the Chancellor for Science and Technology. He creates significant, innovative projects in multidisciplinary research and teaching. He creates a wide range of collaborations between two of the California Institutes of Science and Innovation (the California Institute for Quantitative Biomedical Research and the Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society) and potential partners in business, government, foundations, and non-profits. Tom is also the leader of the Clinton Global Initiative's Global Health Working Group. An initiative of the William J. Clinton Foundation, the Clinton Global Initiative brings together a community of international leaders to develop and put into practice novel solutions to some of the most critical problems facing the planet. Tom also serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of Nanomix and is a Senior Fellow with the Center for American Progress. The Committee to Facilitate Interdisciplinary Research is one of the National Academy of Sciences committees on which he has served.
