Tina Seelig Biography

As the Executive Director of the Stanford Technology Ventures Program, Tina Seelig is in charge of the organization's administration, operations, and outreach initiatives. Tina also serves as co-director of the Mayfield Fellows Program and director of the Stanford Entrepreneurship Network. In the Department of Management Science & Engineering, Tina also offers a course on creativity and innovation. Tina held positions as an entrepreneur, management consultant, writer, and scientist before joining STVP. In 1985, Tina earned her Ph.D. in neuroscience from Stanford University Medical School. Tina has published a number of well-known scientific books, served as a management consultant for Booz, Allen, and Hamilton, and created a number of instructional games. She has written several publications, such as The Epicurean Laboratory, Incredible Edible Science, and the Games for Your Brain series. In 1991, when Tina's first book was out, she developed an interest in book marketing. As a result, she founded a business that connects buyers and books. The device, named BookBrowser, was a multimedia system for patrons of bookstores. A kiosk-based system called BookBrowser lets users find books they might be interested in. Tina grew the firm with assistance from a group of engineers and graphic designers, and she sold the business in 1993. Tina worked as a multimedia producer for Compaq Computer Corporation after selling her firm. In this role, Tina oversaw the development of a group of multimedia titles with the help of engineers, illustrators, authors, scriptwriters, and education specialists. Tina now holds the post of Executive Director of the Stanford Technology Ventures Program, which makes use of her technical skills as well as her management, entrepreneurship, and teaching experiences.
