Tim Weiner is a reporter and novelist with awards. For 25 years, he has covered war, revolution, terrorism, espionage, and soldiers as a reporter. He has covered stories for The New York Times in many different countries, including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Cuba, Haiti, and many more. For his investigations on the CIA and Pentagon's black budget spending, Weiner, an investigative writer for The Philadelphia Inquirer, won the 1988 Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting. Based on that newspaper story, his book Blank Check: The Pentagon's Black Budget was written. His CIA biography, "Legacy of Ashes," is a best-seller across the world and the 2007 National Book Award for Nonfiction winner. He oversees the Carey Institute's nonfiction residency program for journalists, authors, and documentary filmmakers and lectures there as an Anschutz Distinguished Fellow in American Studies. All of the major broadcast and cable networks have spoken with Weiner about intelligence, terrorism, modern warfare, and national security.
