Tim Harris Biography

Tim Harris' life has been motivated by the renowned Walt Disney adage "If you can imagine it, you can accomplish it." Tim, who was born with Down syndrome in 1986, has dedicated his life to exceeding expectations and motivating people around him. Tim graduated from Eldorado High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 2004, and he received the greatest number of votes ever cast for homecoming king. Tim was also named Student of the Year by the administration, professors, and staff during graduation week. Tim started to have dreams of opening his own restaurant when he was a teenager. He started working in neighborhood eateries, such as Red Robin, where the management had concrete evidence that business increased during Tim's shifts. Tim relocated to Roswell, New Mexico, in the fall of 2004 to attend Eastern New Mexico University. Tim graduated in 2008 with credentials in Food Service Office Skills and Restaurant Hosting while residing in a college residence hall. Tim spent time living on a yacht with his parents after graduation and exploring the Bahamas while working as a host at Applebee's restaurant. The new chapter began in October 2010 and, with the support of his family, Tim's desire of running his own business became a reality. In Albuquerque, New Mexico, Tim's Place became one of the first and only eateries run by a person with Down syndrome. Every day, Tim's Place serves breakfast, lunch, and hugs.
