About Tim Dunne
Tim Dunne Biography
Tim Dunne is a professor of international relations and the executive dean of the faculty of humanities and social sciences at The University of Queensland (UQ). At the Asia Pacific Centre for the Responsibility to Protect, he also works as a senior researcher (AP R2P). He served as AP R2P's Director of Research from 2010 until 2014. He held the positions of Professor of International Relations, Head of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Dean of the Social Sciences at the University of Exeter between 2003 and 2010 prior to his relocation to Queensland. He started his career at the University of Wales in Aberystwyth, which is renowned for having one of the oldest and top IR programs in the world. Tim has worked to advance three distinct areas of IR scholarship through his research: first, he has argued that the study of international society offers a unique perspective on the subject; second, he has worked to connect normative theory and foreign policy; and third, he and Ken Booth have co-authored and edited two books that look at how 9/11 affected the global order. He has written and edited eleven books, in addition to more than fifty articles and book chapters, making him a prolific author. Tim has a wealth of editing experience, having co-edited the European Journal of International Relations with Colin Wight and Lene Hansen, the Review of International Studies with Michael Cox and Ken Booth, and two significant Oxford University Press textbooks that have influenced the teaching of international relations theory and foreign policy analysis, both of which will see new editions in 2012. Tim often blogs for prominent websites such as Open Democracy (London), The Interpreter (Sydney), and the Carnegie Council on Ethics and International Affairs in addition to conventional academic publications (New York). Additionally, The Australian, the Financial Review, and The Guardian have all published his writing.
