About Ti-Hua Chang
Ti-Hua Chang Biography
Since 1993, Ti-Hua Chang has worked as a correspondent for NBC news in New York. He has reported on several stories, frequently going abroad. For a series of reports he filed on alleged drug-dealing killers who fled to the Dominican Republic in 1996, he received the coveted Peabody Award. The extradition laws of that nation precluded American law enforcement from detaining them. He was sent to Tel Aviv, Israel, in March 1996 to provide information about the city's recent spate of terrorist bombings. Chang went with an Americares Convoy through many battle-torn cities during his week-long stay in Bosnia, where he reported from the country's war-torn landscape. Chang has published investigative articles on topics including the takeover of the Fulton Fish Market by New York City and the shockingly simple methods for ordering a pistol over the mail. Chang reported on claims that President Clinton had an affair with a White House intern and reportedly told the intern to lie before an inquiry panel in a series of live stories from the White House in January 1998. Chang formerly had his own talk program, New York Hotline, on WNYC-TV in New York before joining NBC. He has worked as an ABC News investigative producer and a reporter for WCBS-TV in the past. A story from inside a Mexican jail that had been overrun by armed drug dealers and an investigation into the killing of civil rights activist Medgar Evers were two of the topics Chang covered for ABC. Chang uncovered four new Evers murder witnesses in his report, which ultimately resulted in the reopening of the well-known case. Chang has received several distinctions and awards, including three Emmys, and prizes from the Philadelphia, Denver, and Detroit Press Associations, the Associated Press, and the United Press International. Chang, who is very involved in Asian-American community affairs, served on the boards of the Asian-American Journalists Association at both the national and local levels in New York. The Sunday New York Times and The Detroit News, among other periodicals, have both carried Chang's work. Chang holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University.
