Thomas R. McFaul Biography

Ph.D. in hand, Dr. Thomas R. McFaul graduated from Boston University. His academic interests span a variety of fields, including sociology, ethics, philosophy, religion, and future studies. He is a retired professor at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois, and he has written seven books and several papers. Among them is a trilogy about the future: The Role of World Religions in the Twenty-first Century: The Future of Peace and Justice in the Global Village The Future of God in the Global Village: Spirituality in an Age of Terrorism and Beyond and The Future of Truth and Freedom in the Global Village: Modernism and the Challenges of the Twenty-first Century. God is Here to Stay: Science Evolution and Belief in God is his most recent book, which he co-authored with Al Brunsting. He has taught a variety of courses and has won two awards for exceptional teaching. In addition to his work as a teacher and scholar, Dr. McFaul has held positions as vice president for academic affairs at George Williams College and director of human sciences at the University of Houston/Clear Lake. He has also served as dean of the Yale Gordon College of Liberal Arts and the University of Baltimore. His lifetime dedication to an interdisciplinary approach to learning has motivated him to search for approaches to meld various perspectives that cross academic specialties' borders while including their most insightful ideas. Although he is retired, he still instructs in the graduate liberal studies program at Southern Methodist University in Dallas Texas and Collin College in Frisco, Texas, on comparative religion and ethics, respectively. His current areas of interest in study are on how science and spirituality interact.
