Thomas Daschle Biography

Tom Daschle is a member of the DLA Piper Global Board and a senior policy advisor in the firm's Government Affairs division. He was the majority leader of the Senate from 2003 to 2005 and a former US senator from South Dakota (D). Daschle founded the Bipartisan Policy Center in 2007 in collaboration with previous majority leaders George Mitchell, Bob Dole, and Howard Baker. Daschle is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations as well as the boards of the National Democratic Institute and the Center for American Progress. He also serves on the Global Policy Advisory Council for the Health Worker Migration Initiative and the Health Policy and Management Executive Council at the Harvard School of Public Health. His most recent book, Getting It Done, takes a detailed look at how healthcare reform legislation was passed in 2009.
