He is a speaker and a mentor for executive development, making him a resource for leadership. Terry used to work at Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. as a Fellow and Senior Vice President of Executive Communication. He received the "Compass" award from the American Association of Public Relations and the "Golden Quill" award from the International Association of Business Communicators for his work there from 1994 to 2002. Terry's past experiences are just as diverse as his current pursuits. He received his business and religious philosophy education in Oregon before working for IBM for 17 years as a manager and executive. He participated actively in citizen diplomacy throughout the 1980s, and as a co-founder of Partners, a Soviet-American trade organization, he helped establish American economic operations in the Soviet Union. He has counseled executives at major corporations worldwide for his current business, including Bay Area businesses like Sun Microsystems, Novell, Gap, Inc., Visa International, Hewlett Packard, and Agilent. Additionally involved in the community, he now sits on the boards of The Pottruck Family Foundation and the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE). Terry is the director of the Healthy Cities Project at the Institute for the Study of Social Change and a founding member of The Partnership for a Drug-Free California. He ran across America in 1989 to raise awareness of both endeavors. Living in Larkspur, California, Terry is the father of five grandkids and three adult children.
