Terry Odendahl Biography

Terry has spent more than 40 years working to solve any problems arising between our everyday and human realities. Terry oversaw the National Network of Grantmakers for more than ten years until joining Global Greengrants in 2009. As a program officer at the Wyss Foundation, she also worked to protect open spaces in the western United States. She trained as an anthropologist and has worked at Yale University, the University of California San Diego, and Georgetown University's Public Policy Institute. Terry is a co-author or proofreader on four publications, including Career Patterns in Philanthropy, America's Wealthy and the Future of Foundations, Women, and Power in the Nonprofit Sector, and Charity Begins at Home: Generosity and Self-Interest Among the Philanthropic Elite. She's penned editorials for The Guardian EcoWatch. The New York Times, The Alliance Magazine, and other publications, including The Chronicle of Philanthropy. She strongly supports the Institute for Collaborative Change in New Mexico and the Institute for Women's Policy Research in Washington, D.C. Terry is pushing Global Greengrants to expand its assistance for women-driven solutions to ecological problems.
