The Anita Borg Institute has grown significantly in size and impact under Dr. Telle Whitney, who joined the organization in 2002. She worked at Malleable Technologies and Actel Corporation in senior specialized administration roles and was instrumental in founding the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing Conference. In addition, she is a member of Illuminates Ventures' and the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology's warning sheets for information science and technology. For her work in founding and sustaining NCWIT, she received the ACM Distinguished Service Grant, the CRA's A. Nico Habermann Award, and a privileged degree from CMU, among other accolades. Telle earned a Ph.D. in computer science from Caltech and a bachelor's degree in the same field from the University of Utah.
