As a member of the Smart City team for Austin, Dr. Ted Lehr guides technology, business alliances, and the use of data for improved services, more transparent government, and the creation of possibilities for company owners and other private sector organizations, Lehr also oversees the White House TechHire workforce effort for the Mayor's Office and coordinates or participates in many academic, business, and city research collaborations. Dr. Lehr teaches computer science at Texas State University, where his teaching and research impact earned him recognition as an Outstanding Part-Time Faculty member in 2015. Texas State's honor students named him a "Favorite Professor" in 2017. He has worked in the private sector for more than 20 years for large and small businesses. He has written over 20 peer-reviewed publications and frequently talks on panels at conferences about open data, entrepreneurship, research, and smart cities. Ted graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a doctorate in electrical and computer engineering.
