Tatyana Ali, a Harvard alumna who gained international fame for her portrayal of "Ashley Banks" on the venerable television program The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, is a Broadway-trained actress, singer, producer, and activist. She started acting at six and became a regular child performer on Sesame Street in 1985. Herbie Hancock even joined her in a musical routine. She also had two appearances on Star Search. She had her big break when she was chosen to play Ashley Banks in the 1990 television comedy The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. She finished Glory Road in 2005 and played Cannon's mother in the music video for Anthony Hamilton and Nick Cannon's song "Can I Live?" She contributed to the will. i.am song "Yes We Can," which supported Barack Obama's presidential campaign in the early months of 2008. She also appeared in the next music video, which was shown on ABC's World News Now's "What the Buzz" section. Along with Terrence Quaites, she also sang the title song, "Sunny Valentine," for the independent film Rockin' Meera, which Param Gill directed in 2005.
