During the 2007 Witch Creek Fires, which raged for 17 days and destroyed more than 2000 houses, Tammy Rimes stepped in as emergency logistics chief and purchasing agent for the City of San Diego, the ninth-largest city in the nation. Under her direction, the City consolidated its distribution center responsibilities, placed all purchasing and contracting activities under one roof, and adopted a client-centered strategy. Now that she is the Executive Director of the National Cooperative Procurement Partners (NCPP), she is passionate about assisting the government and provider clients in elevating their amicable procurement process.
