Susan Lim Biography

In 1990, Susan Lim became known as a surgeon after carrying out the first successful liver transplant in Southeast Asia and Singapore. The mammotome less invasive breast biopsy and robotic surgery for the private sector are two new surgical innovations she has pioneered in the field of general surgery for Singapore. She started the Robotic General Surgery Program for Singapore and currently serves as the center's chair and CEO. Dr. Lim founded the biotech business Stem Cell Technologies I in 2003 to research the utilization of adult stem cells for cell therapy and regenerative medicine. To explicitly investigate the utilization of adult stem cells as a therapy for diabetes, SCT(i) and the National University of Singapore embarked on research cooperation in 2004. The American Academy of Continuing Medical Education established the Dr. Susan Lim Award in 2008 in recognition of Dr. Lim's career, contributions, and achievements on a global scale.
