Susan Ennis Biography

Susan Ennis, appointed to this role in 2009, is in charge of the HBO Original Programming Program Planning team and the Program Strategy team. Program and promotion scheduling for all HBO and Cinemax networks and platforms, including the 15 linear services, HBO and Cinemax On Demand, overseas outlets, HBO GO, and MAX GO, are included in the program planning regions. The Promotion Scheduling and Research teams are also under her direction. Ennis is also in charge of running HBO Original Programming, which she joined in 1992 as Director. Since 2000, when she was named Senior Vice President, Strategy & Planning, Original Programming, she has also been in charge of long-term planning for HBO Entertainment, HBO Films & Miniseries, HBO Documentaries & Family, and HBO Sports. Ennis worked as the Director, Market Research at HBO and Cinemax from 1989 to 1992 before moving into original programming. In 1982, she started working at HBO as a supervisor of market research. The following year, she was promoted to manager, and then to associate director. Ennis worked in research at Grey Advertising and Dancer Fitzgerald Sample before joining HBO. She graduated from Wesleyan University with a BA in Art History and has an MBA from Columbia University.
