Senior Vice President of Search for Common Ground is Susan Collin Marks. She is a native of South Africa and served as a peacemaker while her nation moved from apartheid to democracy. Watching the Wind: Conflict Resolution during South Africa's Transition to Democracy, her book about that process, was also released in Arabic in 2004 by the US Institute of Peace. For more than 20 years, Susan has conducted discussions and provided individualized mentoring to leaders in politics, institutions, and civil society all around the world. She started the Leadership Wisdom Initiative at SFCG in 2006. She holds positions on a number of boards, including the Abraham Path Initiative and the Advisory Council of the Woodrow Wilson International Center Project on Africa and Leadership. Susan was featured in the PBS documentary Peace X Peace: Women on the Frontlines and is the founding editor of Track Two, a quarterly journal on resolving social and political conflicts. She has received numerous awards, including the Skoll Fellowship for Social Entrepreneurship, the Jennings Randolph Peace Fellowship from the United States Institute for Peace, the Institute for Noetic Science's Creative Altruism Award, and an Honorary Doctorate from the University for Peace in Costa Rica. She travels the world to lecture, educate, coach, write, facilitate, and promote peace processes and conflict resolution initiatives.
