On May 1, 2014, Daniel M. Delen was succeeded by Susan M. Cameron as president and CEO of Reynolds American Inc. (RAI) and head of the subsidiary RAI Services Company. Also, a chief on the RAI board is Cameron. Prior to Delen's residence, Cameron served as RAI's administrator, president, and CEO. On December 5, 2013, she returned to the RAI board as an executive. From 2004 until her resignation in February 2011, Cameron served as the president and CEO of RAI as well as an individual from the board. From January 2006 through October 2010, she served as the board's administrator. The board decided to split the roles of director of the board and CEO at the exact moment she announced in October 2010 that she expected to leave the company and its board the following year. In Cameron's place, Thomas Wajnert took over as executive. She served as president and CEO of Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corp. from 2001 until 2004. In 2004, Earthy, Williamson, and R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. merged their US operations. At about that time, Reynolds American, the new parent company created at the time of the merger, named Cameron president and CEO. Since 2001, Cameron has served as interim president and CEO of Brown & Williamson prior to the merger. She began working for that company in 1981 as a salesperson, and throughout her residence, she had several positions in both domestic and international promotion.
