American attorney Sunny Hostin also works as a writer, progressive journalist across several platforms, and social commentator. Hostin co-hosts ABC's morning chat show The View and serves as Senior Legal Correspondent and Analyst for the network. Rosa Beza, a Puerto Rican mother, and William Cummings, an African-American father, were Hostin's parents when he was born in New York City. Jewish Sephardic ancestry was represented by her maternal grandparents. Hostin is proficient in both English and Spanish and was educated at the all-girls Dominican Academy while growing up in the Bronx in New York City. She graduated from Binghamton University with a B.A. in English and Rhetoric and from Notre Dame Law School with a J.D. Robert M. Bell, a retired chief judge of the Maryland Court of Appeals, served as Hostin's first employer. Later, she was hired by the Antitrust Division of the US Department of Justice as a trial lawyer. Hostin departed the Antitrust Division to work as a child sex crimes prosecutor for the federal government. A Special Achievement Award was given to Hostin for her successful prosecution of sex offenders. In addition, Hostin served as the Managing Director of Business Intelligence and Investigations at Kroll, the top risk consulting firm in the world. Hostin oversaw teams of investigators from many countries that worked at Kroll to look into and find fraud. She started her television career as an analyst for Court TV before being hired for a position on the Fox News program The O'Reilly Factor, where she frequently debated with Bill O'Reilly and Megyn Kelly in the program's "Is It Legal?" segments. She was hired by CNN President Jon Klein in September 2007 to serve as the legal expert for the network's premier morning program, American Morning. Hostin started making frequent guest appearances on the ABC daytime talk program The View in 2014. Hostin took part in a TEDx Talk in 2015 called A Possibility Model, which describes the impact of childhood trauma. Hostin's hiring with ABC News as a senior legal correspondent and commentator was announced in March 2016. Beginning with the twentieth season of The View in September 2016, she was appointed as a permanent co-host. Hostin made a cameo appearance as herself in the 2017 comedy Girls Trip, which earned over $100 million domestically and over $140 million globally. The six-episode documentary series "The Whole Truth With Sunny Hostin" will feature Hostin traveling to various locations in the United States to investigate the stories behind some of the country's most infamous homicides. Hostin will serve as an executive producer on this new Investigation Discovery program.
