The Steve Wilkos Show, produced by NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution, is hosted by Steve Wilkos. Wilkos, a Chicago native, served in the United States Marine Corps for nearly seven years before joining the Chicago Police Department. For around 12 years, he kept the streets of Chicago's volatile fourteenth district (Shakespeare) safe while working two jobs on TV in his spare time. Wilkos retired from the police force in 2001 and now devotes his time to his family and his program. Prior to starting his own show, Wilkos stepped in for Jerry Springer as host of the long-running The Jerry Springer Show on more than 50 occasions, employing his legal background and plain approach to develop his own way of life as a syndicated program host. Wilkos' various successes over the years include being nominated for three Prism Awards for drawing attention to drug abuse concerns, standing in as the host of The Daytime Entertainment Creative Arts Emmy Awards, and being invited to provide his voice for an appearance on The Simpsons. Wilkos has also appeared in a number of TV series and films, including the smash picture Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me."
