Steve Sax's baseball career lasted 18 years and included many memorable moments. This five-time All-Star was voted "National League Rookie of the Year" in 1982 and proceeded to develop with each season after that. Steve was an intense and aggressive second baseman with the Los Angeles Dodgers through 1988. During his time with the squad, Steve's defensive ability was important in the team's two World Series victories. He subsequently played for the New York Yankees from 1989 to 1991, before moving on to the Chicago White Sox and the Oakland A's. Steve faced a terrible obstacle in 1983, just as his baseball career was getting off: self-doubt and overwhelming fear. It was the result of a mental block he had acquired earlier in the season, and he was on the edge of losing his career and childhood goal in front of a national television audience at the age of twenty-three. Steve describes the actions he took to face and conquer this issue. After that year, Steve went on to play for 18 years, winning two World Series and becoming a mental health advocate. He also appeared on ESPN Prime Time and FOX Sports Prime Time. After retiring from baseball in 1994, Steve continued to convey his passion for the game by providing analysis on ESPN and serving as a Major League baseball commentator for Fox Sports' Prime Time. Steve also has a long list of theatrical credits. He has appeared as a guest on a variety of television series, including Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Naked Truth, Good Morning America, Howard Stern, Hannity and Combs, and Who's the Boss? He played himself on The Simpsons and appeared as a guest on Late Night with David Letterman. He landed a recurring part on Aaron Spelling's Sunset Beach and a supporting role in Ground Control alongside Keifer Sutherland.
