Steve Odland Biography

In March 2005, Steve Odland was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Office Depot. Odland has headed the cross-functional team of Office Depot employees responsible for developing the firm's global vision " Delivering Winning Solutions That Inspire Worklife " and set of principles since joining the company. Office Depot has evolved to be a $15.5 billion company under Odland's leadership. Office Depot presently serves consumers in 43 countries with a network of over 1,600 global retail outlets, a $4.9 billion e-commerce operation, and a dedicated sales team. He was formerly the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and President of AutoZone (NYSE: AZO), the nation's biggest auto parts and accessories store, which he joined in 2001. Previously, he was Chief Operating Officer of Ahold USA, Inc., an eastern seaboard supermarket retailer; President and Chief Executive Officer of Tops Markets, Inc., one of Ahold's operating companies; President of Sara Lee Bakery's Foodservice Division; and held various senior management positions during his sixteen years at The Quaker Oats Company. He also serves on the board of directors of General Mills, Inc. From 2004 to 2006, he served as chairman of the Business Roundtable Corporate Governance Task Force, and in 2002, Bloomberg Markets Magazine named him the top new CEO. Odland has a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame and a master's degree in management from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
