Steve Mosko, president of Sony Pictures Television (SPT), is in charge of all television operations for Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) globally. Mosko has been a SPE executive for over two decades and manages the world's biggest independent television studio, a firm that ranks as a leader in the creation and distribution of programs across an incredible range of genres, time periods, and television settings. Mosko is also the president of pay cable, video-on-demand, pay per view, digital networks, and advertising sales. Mosko also oversees the studio's international networks, which have 124 channel feeds available in over 159 countries and reach over 840 million households worldwide; Crackle.com, SPE's premium video website; and the studio's stakes in 3net, the first 24/7 fully programmed 3D television network; FEARnet, the number one horror/thriller website and VOD service; GSN, cable's game show network; and ITN Networks, Inc., a national media sales company. He is in charge of SPT's 18 wholly-owned or joint venture production firms in 14 nations outside of the United States, as well as the studio's offices in 33 countries. The original network primetime series "Unforgettable" for CBS, "The Michael J. Fox Show," "The Goldbergs," and "Shark Tank" for ABC, "The Blacklist" and "Community" for NBC, and "Rake" for Fox are among the shows presently in development at the studio. The studio also produces a slew of primetime cable shows, including the FX drama "Justified," AMC's "Breaking Bad," DIRECTV's "Damages," and USA's "Necessary Roughness." "The Big C" for Showtime, "Men at Work" for TBS, and "The Boondocks" for Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. From Latin America's "Los Caballeros Las Prefieren Brutas" to a Russian rendition of "Married with Children," SPT is a global pioneer in local language production. In addition, the company creates critically acclaimed, high-rated motion movies for television, such as AMC's blockbuster Emmy Award-winner "Broken Trail" and History Channel's ratings record-breaker "Hatfields McCoys," among many others. SPT also produces original programming for digital distribution. SPT programming has received several industry distinctions, including Primetime and Daytime Emmys, Golden Globe Awards, WGA Awards, Peabody Awards, GLAAD Awards, AFI Awards, Prism Awards, Banff International Rockies, and Ace Eddie Awards, among others, under Mosko's leadership. With Mosko at the helm, the company also produces first-run syndicated programs such as the long-running #1 and #2-rated game shows "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy!" in syndication, as well as the #1 and #2 network daytime serials "The Young and the Restless" and "Days of Our Lives" in network daytime. The Emmy-winning syndicated program "The Dr. Oz Show" is produced and distributed by the studio in collaboration with Oprah Winfrey's Harpo Productions. "The Queen Latifah Show," SPT's next syndicated program, will premiere this autumn. Mosko's division also oversees the distribution of all SPE feature films across multiple platforms, including advertiser-supported broadcast and cable networks, as well as pay cable, as well as the distribution of the SPT library, which includes more than 150,000 episodes of over 500 series and nearly 4,000 motion pictures. Mosko also leads advertiser sales for SPT, one of the leading national advertising sales organizations, which handles commercial inventory for the studio's first-run and off-network syndicated shows, as well as all of SPE's digital companies in the United States. Mosko joined SPE in 1992 as vice president of the western region for Columbia TriStar Television Distribution, the forerunner of SPT in syndication and cable network production and distribution. He held numerous high managerial roles for the company, including executive vice president of sales, before being elected president in 2000. Mosko expanded the studio's syndication business in this post, coordinating first-run and off-network program sales in over 200 markets and overseeing the activities of regional offices in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, and Dallas. Mosko was vice president and station manager of Philadelphia's WPHL-TV from 1988 to 1991. He was in charge of the station's day-to-day operations as well as long-term strategic planning. He previously worked as the general sales manager for WTAF-TV in that city from 1983 to 1987. Mosko also worked at NBC affiliate WMAR-TV in Baltimore, his birthplace, for four years, first as an account executive and then as local sales manager. In 2005, Mosko was honored into the Broadcasting Cable Hall of Fame. SPT received the Special Recognition Award during the 2004 Sony Corporation Global Top Meeting in Tokyo, in recognition of the group's exceptional fiscal results, including record revenues and profitability. Previously, his significant work for the studio earned him the honor of being named one of the television industry's annual "12 to Watch" most influential executives by Electronic Media magazine (now TelevisionWeek) in 2001. In 2003, he was ranked #39 among entertainment business executives on Entertainment Weekly's 14th Annual Power List. Mosko serves on the executive committee of the Los Angeles Board of Governors of the Paley Museum, the Emeritus Board of Southern California Junior Achievement, the Ad Council's board of directors, the Game Show Network's board of directors, the UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television's executive board, and the Academy of Television Arts Sciences' executive committee (ATAS). He was previously the Chairman of the Academy of Television Arts Sciences Foundation and a member of the Viewpoint School board. He was the head of the National Association of Television Program Executives in 2000. (NATPE). He was president of the Philadelphia Ad Club, a member of the National Academy of Television Arts Sciences (NATAS), and a member of the Philadelphia Police Department's Drug Advisory Council while working in Philadelphia. Mosko, a native of Baltimore, earned a Bachelor of Arts in communications from the University of Delaware. His alma institution awarded him the Presidential Achievement Award in 1995 for his achievements. Chapman University bestowed an honorary doctorate to Mosko in 2011.
