Steve Kerr Biography

Steve Kerr is a former American professional basketball player and the current head coach of the Golden State Warriors. Kerr won three NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls and two with the San Antonio Spurs during his playing career. Kerr hit 45.4 percent from 3-point range during his career, which is the most notable in NBA history for any player with at least 2000 shot attempts. Kerr was chosen in 1988 by the Phoenix Suns and traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 1989. He played three seasons with the Cavaliers before signing with the Chicago Bulls in 1993. The group went on to win the championships in 1996, 1997, and 1998. Kerr was traded to the Spurs before the 1999 season, when the Spurs reached the NBA Finals for the first time. He returned to the Spurs after being traded to the Portland Trail Blazers in 2001. He resigned at the end of the 2003 season. Kerr was named President of Basketball Operations and General Manager of the Phoenix Suns on June 2, 2007. Kerr assisted Managing Partner Robert Sarver in purchasing the Suns in 2004 and secured one of Sarver's trusted ball gurus. In June 2010, Kerr announced his retirement from the Suns. Kerr then returned as a color observer for NBA on TNT until 2014, when he pursued a career in teaching."
